The younger sister of Brian Kinney, Cassandra always suspected she was a mistake. One only had to look at the age difference between her and her brother (13 years) to see that. And for the longest time, she felt she had to make up for that fact. This led to her striving to be the perfect child, the model student. Until one day, she just stopped.

On the outside, it didn't make any sense. It was like Cassie had just given up. And this downward spiral that had come out of nowhere was quickly taking hold of her life. She was out all night, her clothes occasionally had blood on them, she isolated herself from her friends, and began skipping school. When it got to the point where her school wanted to throw her out, Cassie bolted, showing up on her brother's doorstep.

Since then, Cassie's been living with Brian, who despite his better judgement is fighting his mother for custody of his sixteen year old sister? Why? Because he's bound to be a better influence on her than Joan and Jack Kinney. Hell, wild jackals are a better influence than the two of them.

But there's something about his sister Brian doesn't know. The reason for her problems in the first place. Cassie is the slayer. The one girl in all the world who can fight the forces of evil.
